InRange Diabetes Pty Ltd.

Privacy Policy

At InRange Diabetes Pty Ltd, we understand that personal health information is deeply private. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our clients and handling all information with care, transparency, and in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Who We Are

InRange Diabetes Pty Ltd (ABN: 76 686 916 665) is a health service provider specialising in diabetes education and management. Our clinical team consists of endorsed Nurse Practitioners and Credentialed Diabetes Educators dedicated to providing high-quality, independent care.

What Information We Collect

To provide the best possible care, InRange Diabetes collects “health information,” which is considered sensitive under Australian law. This includes:

  • Personal Details: Client names, addresses, dates of birth, contact details, and Medicare or private health fund information.
  • Clinical Records: Medical history, medications, symptoms, diagnoses, specialist reports, and test results.
  • Device Data: Information regarding diabetes technology, such as Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) or insulin pump data.

How We Handle Personal Information

  • Confidentiality: All personal information shared with InRange Diabetes is kept private and confidential, as outlined in the Privacy Act 1988.
  • Care Coordination: By engaging our services, clients authorise InRange Diabetes and our practitioners to communicate with referring services and the wider healthcare team via verbal, written, and electronic means. We aim to work alongside a client’s existing team (GP, endocrinologist, etc.) rather than replacing them.
  • De-identified Data: De-identified information (where names and identifiers are removed) may be used for research, statistical, or service improvement purposes.

Our Use of Technology (Heidi Health)

To enhance efficiency and accuracy in clinical documentation, our practitioners utilise Heidi Health, an AI-powered note-taking software, during consultations. This tool allows practitioners to focus on the client rather than a screen during the appointment.

  • Informed Consent: Clients will be advised of the use of Heidi Health at the beginning of each session. If a client does not consent to its use, the software will not be used during the consultation.

Informed Decision Making

InRange Diabetes is committed to ensuring clients have the information and time they need to make decisions about their care.

  • Clear Communication: We explain treatment options and clinical terms clearly. Our practitioners do not pressure clients into making decisions during a consultation.
  • Device Trials and Purchases: Clients are not asked to sign contracts or agreements related to device trials, loans, or purchases without being provided with adequate time and information to make an informed decision.
  • Consistency: Any verbal representations made during consultations are consistent with any written terms or contracts provided.

Working With Industry and Other Agencies

At times, InRange Diabetes participates in programs funded or supported by other agencies, such as medical device companies, to help make technology more accessible.

  • If an appointment is part of such a program, clients are clearly informed at the start of the session, including who is sponsoring it and what that means for the client.
  • These arrangements never influence our clinical recommendations. Advice is based solely on individual needs, goals, and clinical requirements.

Storage, Security and Access

  • Security: We take all reasonable steps to protect information from unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure through secure electronic storage and encrypted systems.
  • Access: Clients have the right to request access to their personal information or ask for a correction if they believe it is inaccurate.
  • Complaints: Transparency is a core value. If a client believes their information has been mishandled, they are encouraged to contact us directly. Individuals may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
